Clippard on Nats: “They’re beatable”
Mets RHP Tyler Clippard told media at Citi Field today he believes the Washington Nationals are beatable.

Clippard, 30, was traded by the Nationals to the Oakland Athletics during the offseason, and served as the A’s closer. The southpaw recorded 17 saves and posted a 2.79 ERA, limiting left-handed batters to a .222 on-base percentage.
The left-handed pitcher appeared in 414 games for the Nationals from 2008-14, and in 2012 recorded 32 saves.
Clippard’s comments demonstrate a dramatic change in attitude for a Mets team that has not appeared in the postseason since 2006, and has not finished above .500 since 2008. The team has not experienced much success against the Nationals in recent years -especially at Citi Field- and his comments will be tested this weekend when the Nationals and Mets play a three-game series in Flushing.
