David Wright Interview with Mike Lupica Highlights

New York Mets third baseman David Wright appeared on ESPN New York Radio this afternoon with Mike Lupica. Among the highlights were:

What is your pro football team?: The New York Giants. I had to listen to our clubhouse guys complain how cold it was, and on top of that they got beat by the Cowboys. Not a good day, not a good day at all.

Are the Mets going to do anything this winter? It’s been a slow winter so far, but I’m confident we have something up our sleeve. Everyone knew the free agent prices were going to be high this offseason with the television deals. I think Sandy has a few tricks up his sleeve and we’ll have to wait until the winter meetings. I feel the Mets fans pain. Have some faith, like I said, I fully expect us to be a better team moving forward.

Brad Zeigler’s comments regarding players using PEDs: No matter which side of the fence you sit on on this issue, MLB, the commissioner’s office, the union, we agreed to this collective bargain. Brad, just like the rest of the players, had his chance to say something during collective bargaining and we passed it. MLB has done a great deal to try to rid the game of cheaters, to punish those who use performance enhancing drugs. Some people have doubts about it, but we as players had our say and we passed it. You never want to see players who try to cheat the game be rewarded.

Michael Weiner: A guy I became close with when I was in the minor leagues. One of the best men I have met, and he will be sorely missed.

Is David Wright in Shape right now? I hope so, if i can’t beat you (Mike Lupica) in a running race right now they should void my contract.

Wright also mentioned how he’s constantly texting Alderson about offseason moves and expressed that he believes that the winter meetings will see reveal major shakeups within the organization.
