Dillon Gee Has Returned to Form

Dillon Gee was on the brink of a demotion when he faced the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium on May 30th. The right-hander had made 10 starts until that point in the season with results that were indicative that he would be the man to face demotion when Zack Wheeler was ready to join the big league club. Boasting a 6.34 ERA, he had allowed eight home runs and opponents were teeing off against him to the tune of a .329/.390/.519 clip.

Three starts later, the Mets ready for Zack Wheeler to join the team, but Gee will remain apart of a six-man starting rotation.

Gee dominated the St. Louis Cardinals’  National League-leading offense by pitching 6 2/3 innings of one run ball. Gee struck out seven batters for his third consecutive start, allowed two free passes, and held the team in a firm position to win.

This was Gee’s third consecutive start in which he pitched at least six innings and he has now struck out 26 batters in his last 21 innings pitched.

Gee is scheduled to face the Atlanta Braves next week in Atlanta, a team that he has held to a 3.71 ERA in 51 innings pitched.
