Reports: Mets acquire Yoenis Cespedes

The Mets acquired OF Yoenis Cespedes from the Detroit Tigers on Friday for minor league pitcher RHP Michael Fulmer and RHP Luis Cessa, according to MLB Network’s Ken Rosenthal.

Cespedes has batted .289/.321/.500 with 17 home runs and 28 doubles this season. He will become a free agent following the season.

Fulmer, 22, was the 44th overall selection in the 2011 MLB amateur draft. He has emerged as one of the Mets’ top pitching prospects this season, pitching to a 2.03 ERA in 16 starts, 15 of which have been for Double-A Binghamton.

Cessa, 23, has pitched to a 3.98 ERA in 18 games between Double-A Binghamton and Triple-A Las Vegas.

The Tigers’ return for Cespedes does not include RHP Zack Wheeler, who was widely speculated to be part of a potential deal.
